First Steps, Frame Available in White & Gold

11×14 framed keepsake features: unique sentiment for First Steps, place for photograph and child’s print. Sheer ivory pouch holds child-safe stamp, instructions and engravable plaque. Gold Frame Only. Poem reads. First Steps These are the tiny feet, that carried you that day. First steps free from my hands, I watched my baby step away. During the coming years, I’ll guide these little feet, As they toddle ‘cross the lawn, and safely cross the street. They’ll soon grow strong and steady, find puddles to kick and splash, Pedal a two-wheel bike, and win a schoolyard dash. Kick a ball, learn to dance, race a friend home from school. Skip a rope, jump in bed, dive feet-first at the pool. Your small feet may often stumble, scrap a knee, or take a fall. Misstep or need direction, or a model to stand tall. Know I’ll always be behind you, my love will give you wings. To proudly fill the shoes, a grownup life will bring. The years will quickly pass, and these feet will learn to drive. Walk the stage to a diploma, as graduation day arrives. I’ll watch through misty eyes, as you walk down wedding’s aisle, A family of your own, you’ll start your journey with a smile. These tiny prints will hold my heart, for each tomorrow you will grow. Today I’ll hold you closer, for too soon these feet will go. Teri Harrison. Not for personal use.

Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Grooves [Bundle] for Nintendo WII

31st May

Disney Grooves [Bundle] for Nintendo WII

Konami’s original dancing game series steps on to Wii Walt Disney style, in a Dance Dance Revolution game featuring danceable mixes of 40 well-known Disney songs such as “It’s A Small World,” “A Spoonful of Sugar,” and “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.” The game is played using special floor mat controllers with arrow buttons that players step on in time to the music. As a song plays, arrow symbols move up the screen, and the goal of the game is to step on the corresponding floor mat buttons — left, right, up, or down — in time with the scrolling symbols. In the Wii edition of Dance Dance Revolution, dancers also use their hands, holding the motion-sensitive Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers and keeping the beat. Dancers play as themselves, taking the role of their own Mii in the game, and they are joined by Disney favorites such as Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie, and Daisy. The player’s Mii’s appearance can be customized from a collection of as many as 60 unlockable Disney-themed outfits and accessories, and players can change the looks of ten in-game Disney characters as well. Available modes of play include a single-player campaign with increasingly difficult dancing challenges, a multiplayer mode for up to four, and a workout function that estimates the number of calories the player burns while dancing. The initial retail release of Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Grooves for Wii includes two Dance Dance Revolution floor mats for use with the console. ~ T.J. whats a good website or link to learn a step by step practice dance rotinue?

30th May

whats a good website or link to learn a step by step practice dance rotinue? iam wanting ot pratcie some dance moves before i try out in a few weeks
sry about any sp

check out the "american dance institute" on line, they have step charts of nearly every dance performed on stage or in the movies, as well as standard routines that have been used by dancers and choreographers, for decades in shows and competition

How do you do these dance steps?

30th May

I'm trying out at a studio and I need to know how to do these: Front and Back Essence, 5 count Riffs, Double TIme Step, Rhythm and Timing, Adagio, Cincinnatis, Demi Contretemps Assemble, Over The Top, Toe Stances, Cramp Roll Turning. Thanks!

Some of these are ballet steps and some are tap steps. I'll try to give a simple definition to some of them for you….

(ballet steps first)

~Adagio-refers to dancing slowly and simply in ballet. Here is a complete definition for you: http://www.abt.org/education/dictionary/index.html
~assemble-in ballet, the back foot slides out, you jump up and land in 5th. Here a complete definition and a video example: http://www.abt.org/education/dictionary/index.html
~demi contretemps-this is a bit difficult to explain over the computor, it is best learned in class or with an instructor…."4th position, left foot back and pointe tendu. Raise the L foot slightly off the ground, spring off the R foot and jump forward on the L foot – bending the knee – so that the L foot falls in a short 4th position front. Bring the R foot sur le cou-de-pied devant and immediately slide it, bending the knee, to the 2nd or 4th postiion, transferring the weight to it. Close the L foot to the fifth position back, keeping the knees bent"

(tap steps)

~Rhythm and timing-simply refers to how you execute your tap steps with the music. Sometimes the choreography uses the down beat, sometimes the upbeat, sometimes syncopated.
~front and back essence- brush front, ball change and brush back, ball change
~double time step- time steps can be very different depending on what part of the country you are from…crazy, but true: shuffle hop step flap step Here is a link that describes more: http://www.tapdance.org/tap/steps/timestep.htm
~cincinnatis-these also can be different depending on your instructor: spank, heel step –or– spank, shuffle step. Here is a link that discusses several styles of cincinnatis: http://www.tapdance.org/tap/steps/other.htm
~over the top-circle the R leg on the floor in front of the L (like a ronde de jambe in ballet) and jump the L over the R as it moves by
~Toe stands-jump up to the tips of your tap shoes and stand…kind of like what you do in pointe shoes…just remember to keep your knees bent.
~cramp roll turning-the cramp roll is done: toe toe heel heel. In order to turn it you step to the side, jump with your feet together in the cramp roll as you complete the turn.

All of these steps should be worked on in a class setting in order to master them, perhaps a private lesson would help you out if you need to perform them for an audition.
